Grand Isles neighbors,
Over the past several months, our community has participated in one of the most engaged conversations we have seen in recent memory.
Through the original parking survey, our follow-up outreach, policy development, guidelines, community conversations, emails, Facebook discussions, and the launch of our “Parking for the Way We Live” campaign, residents shared thoughtful ideas, concerns, questions, and experiences from across Grand Isles.
One of the advantages of taking a pilot approach before implementation is that it creates space to pressure-test ideas before they become reality.
As we moved through final preparation for the pilot launch, additional feedback and questions helped surface an important consideration: portions of the proposed pilot may require further review in relation to our existing governing documents.
While the Board continues to believe there may be areas where interpretation and flexibility could exist, it was never our intention to move forward with anything that could create uncertainty or appear inconsistent with the framework established in our community documents.
For that reason, the Board has decided to pause implementation of the Parking Pilot Program while we revisit the proposal and evaluate potential next steps. At this time, we anticipate returning to this topic later this year after additional review.
What We Know Today
-
Parking remains one of the most important quality-of-life topics in our community.
Throughout this process, residents consistently told us that today’s parking realities do not always align neatly with daily life. Guests visiting for dinner, service vehicles, driveway maintenance, landscaping activity, temporary household needs, and normal family gatherings all surfaced as examples where residents expressed a desire for more practical flexibility.
That feedback remains important and continues to shape how we think about this issue.
-
Long-term solutions may ultimately require community action.
This process reinforced that meaningful changes involving parking may require broader community involvement and, potentially, a future membership vote depending on the path pursued.
We recognize that process can be challenging, but community participation remains one of the strongest tools we have to shape the future of Grand Isles.
-
We are not walking away from the issue.
Over the coming months, the Board will continue working with association counsel, management, and residents to better understand what opportunities may exist within our governing framework and whether there are practical improvements that can be pursued without creating conflict or uncertainty.
Our goal remains the same: to explore solutions that are clear, workable, fair, and aligned with the documents that govern our community.
Finally, thank you.
Thank you to every resident who completed a survey, sent an email, attended meetings, commented online, asked difficult questions, supported the concept, challenged the concept, or simply took time to engage.
Your participation made this process stronger.
Please know that your voices were heard.
Grand Isles continues to evolve, and while this chapter is being paused, the conversation is not over. We remain committed to finding thoughtful solutions that reflect both the realities of everyday life and the framework that guides our community.
More to come.
